Feel like a Filmmaker: Karson Knudsen & Javin Tilley
Feature film In Our Image is the perfect example of why you should be posting online.
A small group of filmmakers from Missouri set out to make a feature film. No studio, just a story they believed in and the decision to make it.
In Our Image follows a group of recent graduates who reunite after their missing friend unexpectedly returns. The full-length feature film hasn’t been released to the public yet, but people are paying attention to it by way of social media.

Karson and Javin started posting clips on Instagram before the film had an audience, using trial reels to test what resonated and with who. The concept was simple: put content out, see what lands, adjust if needed, and try again. What happened next was incredible. Their reach crossed 3 million and close to 20,000 people followed along after just a few reels were posted.
It’s exactly the kind of story we discuss in our guide to building an online presence before your film is done. The audience for your film exists before you discover them, and finding them starts earlier than most filmmakers think, not at the festival or after production wraps, but right when everything begins.
No one discovers what you never show them. Trusting yourself and creating is what opens the doors. Before you post anything, whether it be clips, trailers, behind-the-scenes content, host it on KNOWN. Know who’s watching, how they’re engaging with it, and what’s landing before it ever hits the social feeds.
